    Chamber Announces Award Winners for Annual Recognition Gala
    Westlake Village, CA The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce will host their “Unsung Heroes” Recognition Gala, on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at    California Lutheran University honoring winners in seven different award categories.
     
    • Man of the Year – Rod Gilbert, TOLD Corporation
    Rod Gilbert is the President of Thousand Oaks Land Development Corporation (TOLD) and the immediate past Chair of the California Lutheran University Board of Regents. He and his family have been integrally involved in the business and philanthropic fabric of the Conejo Valley including the creation of the Gilbert Sports & Fitness Center at CLU.
     
    • Woman of the Year – Lynn Hogan, Hogan Family Foundation
    Lynn Hogan co-founded Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays with her husband Ed Hogan, which they built into a $500 million-a-year travel company and sold in 1998. They went onto create the Hogan Family Foundation, which has become one of the area’s largest non-profit organizations that manages numerous philanthropic educational and humanitarian programs throughout the community.
     
    • Business of the Year – Daland Swim School
    Daland Swim School has a two decade tradition of swim instruction with the most effective learn-to-swim program in Ventura County that has successfully taught more than 80,000 students to swim. The retractable roof and heated water allows for year round swimming seven days a week including private, semi-private and group lessons.
     
    • Ambassador of the Year – Janet D. Hartley, Call A Happy Broker
    Janet D. Hartley has taken on the dual role of being both a Chamber Ambassador and board member. In 2015, she served as Secretary for the Ambassadors and is a tremendous asset to the group with her infectious “How can I help?” attitude and extensive knowledge of the people and businesses in the community. 
     
    • Nonprofit of the Year - Assistance League of Conejo Valley
    Assistance League of Conejo Valley manages numerous philanthropic programs including Operation School Bell that provides clothing, emergency clothing kits, literacy assistance, and dictionaries to elementary schoolchildren in need. The largest fundraising activity for the organization is their thrift shop at 2853 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. that is staffed solely by member volunteers.
     
    • Volunteer of the Year – Joe Joyce, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage
    Joe Joyce has made a tremendous impact at the Chamber through his volunteer efforts as a Chamber Ambassador and creator of “Spark – Ignite Your Business” networking group. In addition to his volunteer work for the Chamber, he has been an active member of the community for over 25 years and is currently a member of Rotary Club of Newbury Park.
     
    • Corporate Sponsor of the Year – Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center
    Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center is one of the largest employers in the Conejo Valley and has been a member of the Chamber for over 40 years. This year they became the first Emerald sponsor of the Chairman’s Club program supporting the Chamber in its mission of enhancing the profitability of local business.
